Question 1

1. How much time should UK travellers budget between landing at Malaga Airport and booking onward transport?

Accepted Answer

You should treat the first 90 minutes after your scheduled landing time as dedicated airport buffer time to allow for passport control, baggage delivery, and potential queue delays. When arranging a pre-booked transfer, provide your flight number so the operator can track your actual arrival time rather than scheduling a rigid pickup immediately upon landing.

Question 2

2. What key entry documents should UK holidaymakers keep accessible when arriving at Spanish border control?

Accepted Answer

You should keep your UK passport in an easily accessible pocket or pouch rather than stowed inside packed cabin luggage. Along with your passport, have your accommodation details, return travel evidence, travel insurance policies, and proof of funds ready for inspection, as border officials may ask to see these during entry checks.

Question 3

3. What step should you take immediately if your checked bag does not appear on the carousel at Malaga Airport?

Accepted Answer

If your luggage is missing from the assigned baggage belt, locate and report the issue to your airline's baggage desk before passing through customs into the public arrivals area. Complete the necessary lost luggage report with the ground staff and keep all receipts for essential items you purchase if your airline confirms these can be claimed back.

Question 4

4. How can UK visitors avoid poor exchange rates when using cash machines in the Malaga arrivals hall?

Accepted Answer

While contactless cards are widely accepted across the region, if you use an airport cash machine to withdraw euros, always decline the ATM's offered currency conversion. Selecting to be billed in euros allows your own UK bank or card issuer to apply their exchange rate, which is typically far more favourable.

Question 5

5. Why is it beneficial to set up an eSIM before departing the UK for Malaga?

Accepted Answer

Installing an eSIM prior to departure allows you to activate your Spanish data connection immediately upon landing. This avoids having to rely on public airport Wi-Fi networks in busy areas when trying to download directions, access offline booking confirmations, or communicate with transfer drivers.

Question 6

6. How should travellers handle transport if their Costa del Sol accommodation is in a pedestrianised old town?

Accepted Answer

If your destination hotel or apartment is located in a pedestrianised historic centre, contact your host or accommodation provider before travelling to request the exact vehicle drop-off location. Knowing the nearest access point in advance prevents long walks with heavy luggage through restricted streets.
